Welcome to the SBSI website

To use the websites operated by SBSI, including the Client Area, as well as other SBSI digital platforms (collectively, the “Website”), you must accept and comply with certain terms and conditions set out in these terms of use. . These terms of use constitute a contract between you and the operator of the Website, SBSI (“we” or “SBSI”).

If you do not wish to be bound by these terms of use, immediately stop using the Website.

1. Purpose of the Website

The Website aims to promote access to the services offered by SBSI and to provide information tools for SBSI customers. The Website notably allows access to databases and technical support.

The content available on the Website is for informational purposes only – SBSI provides original content on an informational basis only. SBSIn does not endorse content produced by other people.

2. Access to the Website

Access to the Website by automated means (such as spiders, web scraping) is not permitted, except in accordance with the robots exclusion file (*sbsica.com/robots.txt) or if there is a written agreement to this effect between you and SBSI.

It is not guaranteed that the Website will be accessible and functional, in whole or in part, at all times.

We reserve the right to suspend access to the Website for the entire public or for one or more users, at our sole discretion and in particular in the event of non-compliance with these conditions.

The Website is accessible via the Internet network, using standard Internet formats. SBSI reserves the right to modify these formats at any time and it is the user’s responsibility to obtain Internet access at their own expense, as well as all software necessary to access the Website.

3. User account

To use certain features of the Website, in particular my customer area, you must authenticate. You guarantee to us that the information you provide to us is true and accurate and you undertake to keep it up to date. SBSI does not accept the use of a pseudonym to create a user account.

You cannot share your account with another person. You agree to protect your password and not to disclose or transfer it to third parties. You are entirely responsible for your user account and for any gesture made or action taken from your user account.

If you have reason to believe that the security of a user account or password has been compromised, you must notify SBSI immediately and change your password as soon as possible.

SBSI reserves the right to cancel any user account, or disconnect a concurrent session if it discovers that a user account is being used by more than one person or has simply been given to another person.

4. Intellectual property

The Website includes content over which SBSI is the owner of intellectual property rights and content reproduced with the permission of the owners of these rights, in particular under distribution and reproduction licenses.

This section explains the terms on which you are authorized to use the content available on the Website.

Content protected by intellectual property

All content on the Website is referred to, including text, illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences, the source code of the Website, as well as the compilation, arrangement or arrangement of these elements on the Website (the “Protected Content”).

  • All rights not expressly granted in these Terms of Use are reserved to SBSI and its licensors, as applicable.

Notice of Alleged Infringement

We do not guarantee that the content available on the Website does not infringe any intellectual property rights. We will take reasonable steps to remove any material that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party.

If you consider that content available on the Website infringes your intellectual property rights or those of a third party, please notify us in writing without delay at the following address info@sbsica.com, specifying what follows: your first name, last name, email address, the copyright-protected content allegedly infringed, your interest or rights with regard to this content, data relating to its electronic location ( the web page), details relating to the alleged infringement, the date and time of the alleged infringement.


Names, words, titles, phrases, logos, designs, graphics, icons and marks displayed on the Website may constitute trademarks of SBSI or third parties. Nothing contained on the Website may be interpreted in such a way as to grant anyone a license or right to use any logo, design or trademark of SBSI or a third party.

5. Confidentiality and privacy

The tools offered by SBSI are not designed to allow the communication or retention of information protected by professional secrecy. Users of the Website should not use the functionalities of their account or space which is personally dedicated to them to communicate or retain information protected by professional secrecy. We do not guarantee absolute confidentiality of our resources. You assume full responsibility for the information you communicate on the Website. SBSI cannot be held responsible for any consequences that may result from non-compliance with this warning.

6. Third-party and database services

Through the Website, in particular through the SBSI Customer Area, it is possible to request or access third party services. This sometimes requires you to authenticate to access the customer area.

SBSI is not responsible for these research, training and database services, and SBSI makes no guarantees regarding them. It is your responsibility to read their conditions of use. Any correspondence and any commercial relationship with third parties offering these research, training and database services, including payment for goods or services, where applicable, or any other terms in relation to these operations, is done directly between you and this third party. Consequently, SBSI cannot at any time be held responsible for any loss or damage resulting from this relationship.

In the event that SBSI suspects any breach of the conditions of use of these services or any fraudulent or abusive use, SBSI reserves the right to prevent or restrict your use of these services.

7. Spam messages

We comply with current legislation and regulations regarding unwanted electronic messages (spam). If you no longer wish to receive electronic communications from us or consider that you have received an inappropriate or unwanted communication, please follow the unsubscribe mechanism found in SBSI electronic messages.

However, we may always contact our users about their orders, their requests for information or their personal information, all in accordance with applicable laws and our Privacy Policy.

8. Limitations of use

You may not use the Website or its features for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited under these terms.

You undertake in particular not to use the Website and not to allow another person to use the Website to:

  • disseminate false, defamatory, infringing upon fundamental rights, inappropriate, misleading, abusive, or illegal information;
  • infringe the intellectual property rights of any person;
  • solicit passwords or personal identifying information from other users;
  • disrupt or impair the functionality of the Website or any servers or networks involved in operating the Website;
  • collect or “harvest” personal information;
  • contravene any local, national or other law or regulation applicable to your activities;

  • Prohibition on extracting data

The use of any automated system or software to extract data from the SBSI website for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited unless you enter into a licensing agreement directly with SBSI which authorizes this.

Ban on training AI

It is strictly prohibited to reproduce, in whole or in part, or any other use of works protected by intellectual property hosted on the SBSI website to train artificial intelligence.

In the event that SBSI suspects any breach of the foregoing, SBSI reserves the right to cancel any user account or otherwise restrict your use of the Website.

9. Hyperlinks

The Website may contain hyperlinks to third party sites, including social media sites used by SBSI (the “Third Party Sites”) which will take you away from the Website. SBSI provides these hyperlinks for your convenience. Third-party sites are not under the control of SBSI and hyperlinks should not be construed as approval or endorsement of their content by SBSI. SBSI is not responsible for the content of third party sites, the links they contain or any changes or updates made to them. SBSI offers no warranty regarding them. It is your responsibility to read the terms of use and privacy policy of third-party sites.

All correspondence and business dealings with third parties through the Website, including payment for goods or services, if any, or any other terms in connection therewith, are directly between you and such third party. Consequently, SBSI cannot at any time be held responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever resulting from this relationship, including, without limiting the generality of the foregoing, with respect to any payment .

SBSI accepts hyperlinks to the Website. However, SBSI does not wish to be linked to any third party site that:

  • contains content constituting a criminal or penal offense;
  • encourages the commission of a crime;
  • gives rise to civil liability;
  • is in violation of any municipal, provincial, national or international legislation or regulation;
  • is likely to undermine or harm the activities, credibility or integrity of SBSI;
  • contains, displays or transmits any material or information that exceeds the moral or legal standards of Canadian society; Or
  • contains, posts or transmits any information, software or other material that violates or infringes upon the rights of others, including material that constitutes an invasion of privacy, or that is protected by copyright, trademark or other property rights.

10. Visitor Suggestions

If you choose to communicate with us about improvements to the Website or the products and services we offer (“Suggestions”), you agree to assign to us all right, title and interest in the Suggestions and authorize us to to use the Suggestions without restriction. You represent to us that your Suggestions do not contain information that is confidential or proprietary to others and you acknowledge that:

we have no obligation of confidentiality with respect to the Suggestions;
we may use or disclose (or choose not to use or disclose) the Suggestions for any purpose, in any manner, in any media, anywhere in the world;
we may already have considered or be in development for items the same or similar to those mentioned in your Suggestions; And
you will not receive any compensation or reimbursement, regardless of the circumstances in which Suggestions are communicated to us.

11. No warranty

SBSI strives to ensure that the information and content available on the Website is complete, accurate and up-to-date. This information and content may be obtained from sources SBSI believes to be reliable, and is regularly updated. However, this information may contain inaccuracies, omissions, typographical errors or other deficiencies. Therefore, your use of the Website and the services offered thereon or through it is at your own risk.

Neither SBSI nor any employee, administrator or supplier of SBSI guarantees the accuracy or completeness of the information published on the Website, nor the results obtained from the use of the Website, including the completeness, up-to-date or exhaustive of the research results, or as to the precision, reliability, accuracy, integrity, completeness, performance or adaptation to a particular use of the information offered.

All material and data uploaded, downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the Website is done at your own discretion and risk. Communications over the Internet are not absolutely secure and as a result, we offer no guarantee that your use of the Website will be free of viruses, destructive code or data interception.

SBSI offers no guarantee as to the availability or stability of the Website, as to the possibility of accessing it or as to the availability of the services offered. Please note that the Website is regularly subject to technical maintenance operations, which may limit or prevent access to it on a temporary or prolonged basis.

SBSI may, in its sole discretion, modify or remove any part of the Website, including any features therein, at any time, with or without notice to you. SBSI will not be liable to you or anyone else if it exercises this right. Modifications may include, but are not limited to, changes in the content and fees of the services offered.

12. Limitation of liability

You are solely responsible for the use or decisions made based on information provided on the Website.

We do not limit our liability where applicable law does not permit it. However, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall SBSI, its directors, officers, employees or agents be liable for any damages or injury of any kind, including arising from loss of use of data, loss of revenue and profits, loss of work product, loss of goodwill or professional liability which may result or arise from the use of the Website or the services offered through it, the consultation or use of content obtained from the Website, the inability of one or more users to use or access the Website or the default part or all of the Website to function properly.

By accepting these conditions of use, you accept this limitation of liability and waive any recourse or claim against SBSI, its directors, officers, employees or agents which would be based on a matter excluded under this article.

If you are dissatisfied with any part of the Website, the functionality of the Website, the results obtained from its use or with any of these terms and conditions, please let us know so that we can, if we we deem it necessary, remedy it or so that we can find an appropriate solution with you.

13. Compensation

You agree to indemnify, defend, take up the cause and hold harmless SBSI, its affiliates, its directors, its officers, its employees, its agents and the entities having granted it a license, with respect to any damage, harm, liability, loss, fine, penalty or expense, including reasonable legal fees and costs, that would result directly or indirectly from:

  • your access or lack of access to the Website;
  • your use of the Website; Or
  • for any alleged violation by you of these terms of use.

14. Sanctions

In the event of non-compliance with these terms of use, we reserve the right to apply one or more of the following sanctions, at our discretion:

i) send you a formal warning asking you to stop your non-compliant behavior;

ii) remove any content you have posted that violates these Terms of Use;

iii) temporarily suspend or permanently terminate your access to the Website and/or your user account;

iv) take legal action against you to obtain compensation for damages caused by your non-compliance with the conditions of use; And

v) report your behavior to the relevant authorities if we believe that your activity is illegal.

These sanctions will be applied depending on the seriousness of your offense and the specific circumstances of each case.

15. Applicable laws

The Website is managed and powered from IT services located in the province of Quebec, Canada. The content and use of the Website as well as these conditions of use and all related operations will be governed by the laws of the province of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada. Any dispute or disagreement arising from the foregoing shall be governed by and construed in accordance with such laws.

Some jurisdictions do not allow a contract to be governed by the laws of another jurisdiction. Therefore, this article may not apply to you.

16. Dispute Resolution

SBSI services are offered to the Quebec community. Any dispute concerning these conditions of use or your use of the Website is therefore submitted to a competent court in the province of Quebec sitting in the judicial district of Montreal to the exclusion of any other forum or jurisdiction.

Some jurisdictions do not allow a contract or a contract-related dispute to be submitted to a particular court. Therefore, this article may not apply to you.

17. General

If one of the provisions of these conditions of use is, for any reason, invalid, illegal or unenforceable against one or more users or categories of users, this invalidity, illegality or unenforceability will have no impact on the other provisions of these Terms, which will be construed as if the invalid, illegal or unenforceable provision had never been part of these Terms.

These conditions of use replace any previous conditions or provisions relating to the use of the Website. No verbal or written statement from an employee or manager of SBSI, or any other person, may have the effect of modifying or replacing these conditions of use.

18. Modification of the conditions of use

SBSI may modify these terms of use at any time, without notice, in which case modified terms of use will be posted on the Website with the date of the last update indicated at the beginning of this policy.

We will make reasonable efforts to notify our users of changes to the Terms of Use in advance, but it is your responsibility to check the Terms of Use before using the Website.

Users are requested to check regularly whether the conditions of use have been modified. Users are deemed to have accepted the changes to the terms of use if they continue to use the Website after the changes are posted.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, SBSI agrees to give you reasonable notice of the modification and its effective date, where possible at least 30 days before the modification comes into force.
